1. Introduction
Support Shepherd, LLC dba Somewhere (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Typing Test application.
This notice applies specifically to Somewhere Typing Test and supplements our main Somewhere Privacy Notice, available here. If there is any conflict, this Typing Test notice controls for data processing within this application.
This policy applies to all visitors and users of our website and services, regardless of location. We comply with applicable data protection laws including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and Switzerland, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for California residents.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
When you use our typing test, we may collect:
- Name and email address (if provided)
- Typing test results and performance metrics
- Any other information you choose to provide
2.2 Analytics Data (Microsoft Clarity)
With your consent, we use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with our website. Clarity may collect:
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Mouse movements, clicks, and scroll behavior
- Session recordings (anonymized) to identify usability issues
- Device type, browser, and operating system
- Approximate geographic location (country/region level)
- Referring website and search terms
Microsoft Clarity does not collect passwords, payment information, or other sensitive data. Session recordings are anonymized and do not capture text you type in input fields.
2.3 Error Monitoring and Diagnostics (Sentry)
With your consent, we use Sentry in your browser to monitor client-side application errors, performance, and reliability. Sentry may collect:
- Error messages and stack traces
- Technical context such as page URL, browser, device, operating system, and timestamps
- Request metadata such as IP address and headers (including potential cookie/header values) when available
- Session Replay data for sampled sessions to help diagnose issues
Session Replay is configured with Sentry privacy defaults intended to limit sensitive capture (for example, text masking and media blocking), but diagnostic interaction metadata may still be processed.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:
- Consent: Analytics data is only collected after you explicitly consent via our cookie banner, including client-side Sentry error monitoring and replay.
- Legitimate Interests: To operate a secure and reliable service, including detecting, investigating, and fixing technical issues with server-side monitoring tools.
- Contract Performance: To provide you with the typing test service you requested.
4. How We Use Your Data
We use the collected data to:
- Provide and maintain our typing test service
- Analyze website usage patterns to improve functionality
- Monitor, investigate, and fix technical issues and failures
- Understand user behavior to enhance the user experience
- Generate aggregated, anonymized statistics
5. Data Retention
Microsoft Clarity retains analytics data for up to 13 months. After this period, the data is automatically deleted or anonymized.
Sentry diagnostic and replay data is retained according to our configured Sentry retention settings and then deleted or anonymized by Sentry.
Typing test results and user-provided information are retained until you request deletion, unless we need to retain certain data for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes.
We do not currently apply an automatic time-based deletion schedule to typing test records.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:
- Microsoft Corporation: As the provider of Clarity analytics services. Microsoft processes this data in accordance with their Privacy Statement.
- Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry): As the provider of our error monitoring and diagnostics platform. Data processed by Sentry is handled in accordance with their Privacy Policy.
- Service Providers: Third parties who assist in operating our website, subject to confidentiality obligations.
- Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights.
7. Cookies
We use a consent cookie to remember your preferences and, with your consent, to enable Microsoft Clarity analytics and Sentry client-side error monitoring. Clarity uses the following cookies:
- cookie-consent: Stores your analytics consent preference
- _clck: Persists the Clarity User ID and preferences
- _clsk: Connects page views into a session
Client-side Sentry collection is enabled only when your “cookie-consent” preference is set to accepted. Sentry events may include technical request metadata (such as IP address and header values) when available.
You can manage your cookie preferences at any time using the “Cookie Settings” link in our footer.
